From the first tournament the USAFPA sanctioned it was apparent that it would be necessary to have belt rank in pankration. Coaches shifted their students from division to division in different tournaments in order to claim easy wins. Also we knew that we needed Pankration schools where Pankration rank would be awarded if we were going to grow and progress as an organization. The USAFPA. will award rank, as well as rank recognition to members of the USAFPA in compliance with the ranking polices. Bill Del Buono, a 6th degree Black Belt in Shorei Ryu Karate and Jui Jutsu, has been appointed as Chairman of the Rank Oversight Committee.
