ALTERNATIVE AND ABRIDGED RULES
FOR OPEN PANKRATION  COMPETITION

(For Situations Not Covered, Refer To Full Rule Book)

How to win

1. Submission.
2. TKO:Athlete unable to continue due to a legal technique and after a referees 10 count.
3. Disqualification
4. Mismatch ;competitor unable to protect self and third incompltete 10 given.
5.Athlete withdraws from match.
6. Judges decision


Personal Fouls


1. Face contact ( that area covered by a baseball catchers mask ) causing immediate bleeding, swelling ,bruising or abrasion require disqualification

2. Second light face contact in every division except Black or brown Belt require disqualification

3. All stunning and hard contact to head requires disqualification.

4. Impact against natural joint movement requires disqualification if an injury occurs.or after 1 warning without injury.

5. Wild or careless techniques that fail to demonstrate safe attitude.Unsportsman like conduct by athlete his team mates or instructor.

Technical Fouls

1. Disqualification on the 4th ring exit to escape an opponant: one foot while standing or full body if on the ground.

2. Disqualification after any combination of fouls excluding exit of ring  that add up to four.

3. Failure to be in ring after three calls equal disqualification.

4. Failure to follow referees instructions after warning,disqualification

 

Refereeing & Judging

a. Four  ring officials plus score and time keeper

b. One referee who controls match and gives penalties but doesn't vote for a winner

c. Three judges who award match on referees signal to vote by raising flags

1.Three in agreement is unanomous decision.
2 .Two out of three is a majority decision
3.One who votes for a winner while other two vote for a draw is a majority decision
4. Three voting for a draw shall vote again and award the match to the more agrassive athlete. If no decision at this point a one minute overtime shall be given

Protests

1. Only an instructor may protest.

2. Only a rule violation may be protested, never a judges opinion.

3. Protest must be immediate and in writing,It must first site the rule violated and then the details of the situation.

4. The instructor must post a $20. bond with a  p;rotest which will be returned only if the panel reviewing the protest finds in his favor.



COMPETITOR INFO (POINTS)

The point race is from May 1, 2002 through May 31, 2004. Total points awarded during that time valid if when competitor is a registered current member of USAFPA and tournament is sanctioned.

2002
 Competitor receives:
10 points for each tournament entry
PLUS: 3 points for a first (1st) place win
2 points for a second (2nd) place win
1 point for a third (3rd) place win
 
2003
Competitor receives:
Double point values from 2002 are to be awarded.
 
2004
Competitor receives:
Triple point values from 2002 to be awarded

BONUS POINTS

Add 10 extra points per competitor at the USAFPA National Team Trials

Any division that does not meet the minimum standard of 50 people with points on May 31, 2004 will not have a winner declared. Final disposition of ages divisions winners and weight are subject to change by the Greek Ministry of Sports.


COMPETITOR REQUIREMENTS
 

 To receive points USAFPA current memberships required.
 Points given only from USAFPA sanctioned tournaments
 Points must be reported by both the competitor and tournament promoter within ten (10) days of competition.
 Point championship starts May 1, 2002 and ends May 31, 2004.
 A division must have at least 50 competitors with points on May 31, 2004 to have a winner declared.
 The point leader in a default division may travel to Greece at his own expense.




TOURNAMENT SANCTION INFO

Just add "MIXED MARTIAL ARTS"
Get FREE Tournament Sanctions.
Get FREE Flight to Greece to #1 promoter.
Get Special Awards 10 runner-up promoters.

Requirements:
­ Advertise mixed martial arts divisions on tournament flyer.
­ Acquire USAFPA sanction at least 60 days in advance of tournament date.
­ Send report to USAFPA for your tournament and competitors within 10 days
­ You may use any variation of abridged PANKRATION rules and local referees and judges in your sanction Mixed Martial Arts division.
­ Point Championship starts May 1, 2002 and ends May 31, 2004.
­ A division must have at least 50 competitors with points on May 31, 2004 to have a winner declared.
­ The point leader in a defunct division may travel to Greece at his/her own expense.
